Neocon is the Grammys for the Interior Design industry. After a small hiatus due to the pandemic, Chicago is bustling again. Neocon is an opportunity for manufacturers to present new products to the industry. One theme was clear with the offerings presented this year; manufacturers are embracing the mix of “cozy” with the balance of “return to work”. You might call this concept hotelification. It’s an extension of the residential geared trend we saw prior to covid.

With covid, many companies allowed employees to work from home. People made do, often with ill equipped places to work. We know we all have spent more hours at the kitchen table working than we want to let on. We need the office again. We need a workplace away from our home. We need the separation of life and work to achieve balance. As we embrace the office again, there are tools and materials to make it feel more hospitable. Plus, sometimes the office has donuts!

1. Plush Furniture: Employee satisfaction and retention are key as we continue to build the return to the office. Building Owners are focusing on more services and amenities at their properties, such as bike storage, package lockers, new shared lounge areas. Hotel Lobby-Like furniture that is well spaced for privacy are successful. National’s Eklund Collection features small, plush lounge seating. The collection features club chairs with beautifully tufted back, and optional high panels to provide additional privacy.
